Ken, I was quoted $12,500 for a B1700 w/60" mid mower about 2 months ago. Checking Carver's website, they have theB1700 package for about $16,250. So I'd say the quote you got is reasonable. ....

Thanks Tony. I also saw Carver's pricing. On the B7300 they are almost identical. On the B1700 my dealer is about 500 higher, but I'm not sure on which part. BTW: Another surfer emailed suggesting I try a Canadian dealer, to take advantage of the very low Canadian dollar.Ken N. ....

are you going to be able to turn the wheels on the B7300 when u r using the loader since it doesn't have power steering? Have you looked at the JD 4100? Their loader goes on and off in about 30 seconds except the hydraulic coupling making it nice to be able to take the loader off when u r mowing. ....

Lack of power steering on the B7300 is a concern. I don't plan on using the loader that often but would prefer power steering. Not sure if it is worth the extra 3K though. Will take a peek at the 4100 tomorrow at the local JD place. Thanks,Ken N. ....

Ken - I just made the choice of the B1700, over the B7300 ( the $3000 decision), and I made it not for the power steering, which I could take or leave, but because I think the 1700 will last longer. Look under the hood on both machines side by side. On the 1700, the firewall is stiff, solid plastic with a rubber gasket all around the edge. On the 7300, it is more like styrofoam. The radiator screen is heavy mesh on the 1700, hardware screen on the 7300. 900cc motor doing the same work as a 700cc motor only makes sense it will last longer. All of these are small points, but I think they all point to the same thing, which is that wherever Kubota could save a buck in manufacturing the 7300 they did, whereas they went top shelf with the 1700. Just my opinion. If I could get a non-power steering 1700 for $1500 less than the machine I bought, I would have, but I wanted the better quality so I got the PS by default.Love my machine so far.good luck,Paul ....
